Nicole is a veteran NASA astronaut with two spaceflights and 104 days living and working in space aboard both the International Space Station and the Space Shuttle. During her remarkable career, she became the 10th woman to perform a spacewalk, the first person to operate the ISS robotic arm to capture a free-flying cargo vehicle, and even painted the first watercolour in space — now displayed at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. In today’s conversation, we’ll talk about Nicole’s career, experiences living in orbit and seeing Earth from space.
