Sagano Romantic Train, Arashiyama (Train Ride & Photo Walk) (4K)

Having missed out on tickets for the scenic Sagano train ride the day before, I made sure to book in advance for the Sunday morning. The skies were grey but in many ways that just made the colours through the gorge more in contrast, and the cloud hanging around the Kameoka countryside was a mist-ical mood... After returning to Arashiyama via the more mundane JR line, I again made the walk to the riverside, but this time continued upstream towards the observation area in the park, overlooking the exit of the gorge. Then, another location that originally was not on my list, but happened to be literally on my way back to the station - the bamboo forest everyone gets told to go to, that really is not anything particularly special (there are other bamboo forests around the country, after all). All I would say is that if you visit there, please do yourself a favour and continue walking past the bamboo and up to the park beyond for the views of the hills, and return by the riverside. Or don't, actually, because the walk was nice and peaceful without the crowds.
