Description

Where we've been the last several weeks. We captured our first family vacation abroad to Portugal. We mainly stayed in Porto and Lisbon. Come along with us and we'll share some of the places where we stayed, restaurants where we ate and of course can't forget the playgrounds for our kids to enjoy. Day 1 and 2 were all travel. We only had one connecting flight, but it was a short layover. Honestly, we didn't think we would make it in time because we were stuck on the tarmac in Nashville for over 40 minutes due to traffic. But we made it to our connecting flight with some time to spare. The main flight to Lisbon was an overnight flight, so the kids slept for a good portion of the way, but Andrey and myself barely slept. After landing in Lisbon, we booked a van for us to take us to Santa Apolonia train station. We wanted to make sure there was enough time for us between our flight and train. I've heard and seen some of the videos of people waiting over 2-3 hours in the passport check line in Lisbon airport. But, there's a separate line for anyone traveling with small kids/babies. I believe we only stood in life for roughly 30 min. We decided to stay in Porto, Portugal for the first portion of our trip, so we booked a high speed train to take us there. Wanted to experience with the kids, and boy was it so much fun. It just under a 3 hour ride from Lisbon. The train ride was really smooth and Elodie got to take a nap for majority of it, while the rest of us enjoyed the scenery. Our hotel was located in Gaia. Right across the old Porto. This hotel was recommend for the incredible views of the Duoro River and Porto.
