Trump Administration Reports Zero Border Releases

The Trump administration says the United States has now gone a full year without releasing any illegal immigrants into the country after they were apprehended at the southern border. Officials say April marked the twelfth consecutive month of what they call “zero releases.” CBP Commissioner Rodney Scott said that in April 2024, more than 68,000 migrants were released into the United States. The Department of Homeland Security added that illegal crossings at the southwest border remain at historically low levels. According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Border Patrol agents recorded 8,943 apprehensions in April.
