Tamms Correctional Center was once Illinois’ most secure prison. Built in the 1990s to hold inmates considered too dangerous for any other facility, Tamms operated under extreme isolation and secrecy before being shut down just 15 years later. Few people ever saw what life inside was really like. In this video, I explore the prison firsthand. Moving through empty cell blocks, guard towers, and control rooms that were designed to keep people completely cut off from the outside world. At one point, I walk into a room without realizing what it was used for until much later.
