V8 Cortina Sleeper Build & Forgotten 1960s Hot Rod!

A grandpa-spec Ford Cortina hiding a Cleveland V8—and a forgotten Australian hot rod rebuilt after spending decades in pieces! In this episode of Aussie Garage, we return to Cleveland Spares in Victoria to catch up with Cass and Rob and check out some incredible projects. First up is their Mk2 Ford Cortina sleeper build. The plan is to remove the drag-car appearance, fit standard-style wheels and a flat bonnet, then install the Cleveland V8 previously used in Rob’s XC Falcon. From the outside, it will look like a basic old Cortina—but turning the key will reveal something completely different. We also uncover an amazing piece of Australian hot rod history: a steel-bodied 1923 Ford T-Bucket originally built in Victoria in 1968. After being dismantled and stored away for decades, the car has been pieced back together using most of its original parts, including its Ford Y-block engine, three-speed Top Loader, nine-inch differential and chrome suspension components. Cass and Rob also share updates from Cleveland Spares, discuss their growing parts range, local cruise nights, classic Ford projects and the importance of preserving Australian automotive history.
