Media Briefing: Officer-involved Shooting at 13600 East Freeway | Houston Police

Assistant Chief Christy Smith provides media information on an officer-involved shooting that occurred at 13600 East Freeway. Preliminary information: At approximately 11:12 pm on Saturday, April 25th, a "shooting just occurred" call happened at the above address. Officers arrived within five minutes and discovered a man had been vandalizing and breaking into vehicles in a Sam's Club parking lot. Employees inside came out but ran back in the store when the suspect shot at them. The suspect followed them into the store. Officers entered the store, exchanging gunfire with the suspect. The suspect was struck multiple times. Officers rendered aid to the suspect until HFD arrived and transported him to the hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
