Aunty Muriel has dedicated decades to championing the welfare of Aboriginal children and families. The Yorta Yorta, Dja Dja Wurrung, Taungurung, Boon Wurrung Elder says positive change is happening, but there is still a lack of investment going towards Aboriginal people. “We are making the changes, but I think there's just a significant underinvestment. They don't see the Aboriginal evidence, they don't see the work that we do." After more than 15 years of the Closing the Gap strategy, less than 15 per cent of targets are on track to being met.
