Rotting body found in car trunk near Iran World Cup team's training stadium in Mexico

A decomposing body was discovered Friday in the trunk of a car parked near the stadium where Iran's national football team is training for the World Cup in Tijuana, Mexico. Police opened the trunk of the gray Toyota SUV with California plates in a parking lot directly across from Caliente Stadium, where Team Melli has been training under heavy security after relocating from Arizona due to ongoing hostilities between Iran and the United States. Tijuana recorded more than 1,200 homicides in 2025. The Iranian team's convoy left the stadium just minutes after the body was removed.
