NASA Just Shut Down Part of Voyager I

Nearly half a century after launch, Voyager 1 is still exploring the unknown. On April 17, 2026, NASA shut down another science instrument to conserve power and extend the spacecraft’s life as long as possible. Voyager 1 is currently more than 15 billion miles from Earth, traveling through interstellar space while still transmitting scientific data back home. Even after 49 years, humanity’s most distant spacecraft refuses to stop exploring.
