Description
these images were captured early in the 13th week & we find Marcel standing on the circular glass top of a wrought iron outdoor garden setting however he is seen jumps from the table to my denim covered right thigh where he is soon searching for any of those small imperfections that he looks for.after showing some interest in a shirt button Marcel quickly finds a small tear near my knee which is soon probed by his beak & its not long before he is seen tearing a thread which he then appears to eat.interest is soon lost on the hole and it is my shirt button/s that become his primary target.in the last few frames i use my finger to " brush " his crown/crest feathers back against their natural fall, against the grain,so to speak which gave Marcel a look something like a mohawk similar to the style worn by robert deniro in last scenes of " taxi driver ".
Marcel was found on the ground in the last week of july after a very stormy night, after ringing a few places i was instructed to take him to specific vet surgery where i was advised that he was a raven, healthy, unlikely to have fallen to ground & he was a fledgling & " should be returned to where he was found his parents will look after him ".
unfortunately this was not the case and it was 4/5 days before the parents came near him,he also had a talon missing from a rear toe that became quite swollen & infected in the weeks that followed needing treatment,it was paw paw ointment that cleared it up. after having no success with other conventional treatments.Although the only sure fire way to accurately identify the gender of a raven is by blood/dna test Marcel has been declared a male for a number of reasons with the primary one coming from my 15 yr old daughter who has declared that " that bird has to be a male.its just so annoying " fortunately she avoids Marcel otherwise he might think his name is/was " stupid bird " admittedly the poor kid was swooped by a maggie as a five year old & it appears that it has left her quite scarred.
