Description
In this episode Adam and Austin from @mpwperformanceracefab5132 takes us through some upgrades to our VS Commodore ute, Grimace! The ute was a Carnage build, designed from the outset to take on the Drag Challenge 8.5 index class and did so admirably - with Scotty Taylor running a PB of 8.49-seconds at 165mph during DC24 and finishing third in class and 13th overall. The build was based around a Dart 427 LS Next block and a stack of goodies from VPW, Proflow, RTS, Street Pro, Haltech, Turbosmart, Tuff Mounts and Pulsar Turbos Australia, with tuning and some very cool fab work by MPW.
Besides Drag Challenge, Grimace also got down to the finals in Kenda Radial competition and was driven from Melbourne to Summernats 37 where it made over 1000kW at the hubs!
Now that the Carnage workshop has closed its doors, Adam has taken the ute under his wing to get it to the next level. As you'll see in the video, weight reduction is a big part of the plan, so all the factory wiring is being ditched, and every aspect of the car now being run by the Haltech R5 VCU. The boys also move to C02 control for the wastegates, replace the factory fuel tank with a trick baffled item from Proflow and heaps more! Next week, we hit the track at Sydney Dragway!
