Barn-Find: 1970s NIKKO Porsche de Police – Moldy Mess to Shelf Queen Polish | RC ADVENTURES

Today I’m unboxing and cleaning up a little "barn-find" time capsule from the late 1970s – a Sears “Patrol Porsche / Porsche de Police” radio-controlled car, made in Japan by Nikko and sold through the Canadian Simpsons-Sears catalog. When I pulled it out of the box it wasn’t mint… it was covered in some kind of mold spore. So this video is less “rip around the driveway” and more “gloves on, Q-tips out”. I go through the whole cleanup: hot water, soft pads, cotton swabs, and careful handling to bring the body, wheels, and details back to life without destroying 40+ year old plastic and decals. Underneath, this thing is a true vintage Nikko RC, not a tethered toy – full radio control, wire antenna, and period electronics. The rear wheel still turns, but the transmitter is dead and there’s no radio signal, so for now this Porsche is officially a shelf queen. I’m not hacking it apart or modernizing it in this video – just preserving it as a piece of RC history. I also talk about what this car actually is and why a “Porsche de Police” even exists. Back in the ‘60s–’80s, European highway patrol units really did run Porsche 356s and 911s as high-speed police cars on the Autobahn and other highways. Those white Porsches with beacons on top became icons, and toy makers jumped all over that look. This Sears Patrol Porsche is a Canadian bilingual catalog version of those legendary highway patrol cars – likely a short-run item that only showed up for a few Christmas seasons.
