I traveled to the heart of Manila to uncover a world that defies logic and challenges every notion of what we call home. This is the Manila North Cemetery, a massive 54-hectare graveyard that has been transformed into a fully functioning village where thousands of residents eat, sleep, and live directly among the dead. Most people view a cemetery as a place of silence and finality, but here, the reality is a vibrant, bustling society. Driven by necessity and an incredible spirit of resilience, this community has turned hallowed grounds into a neighborhood. In this documentary, I’m going beyond the surface to meet the families who call these tombs their living rooms. We are stepping inside this "Graveyard Village" to see how life thrives in the shadow of death, finding humanity in a place most people are afraid to visit. You’ll see the daily rhythms of a life integrated with the afterlife—from children playing between headstones to residents washing clothes and sharing meals on concrete grave slabs.
