Truth Is Not Optional in the Public Square

Father Chris Alar, MIC addresses a truth many Catholics have never been taught — or have chosen to forget. The Church does not ask believers to keep their faith private when moral issues are at stake. She obliges them to act. Citing Catechism of the Catholic Church paragraph 2246, Fr. Chris reminds us that it is part of the Church’s very mission to pass moral judgment even in matters related to politics whenever fundamental human rights or the salvation of souls are involved. Silence is not neutrality. Silence is a moral choice. Catholics are not called to partisan loyalty, but to moral clarity. When laws touch life, family, human dignity, or truth itself, the faithful cannot retreat under the excuse of “personal belief.” Christ did not establish a Church to observe history — He established her to shape consciences. This teaching may be uncomfortable, but it is unmistakably Catholic. The Gospel was never meant to stay inside church walls. It was meant to transform the world.
