Description
After catching Covington's siren test, @madisoncountysirens4295 and I caught a CN coal train and filmed some TCT pedestrian signals in Covington before continuing on down to Memphis for their weekly siren test, as the weather was once again favorable for testing on this day. As Harris hadn't heard a P-50/RM-135 yet, and I hadn't heard an ASC variant of a P-50 yet (or heard one in a long while, for that matter), we decided to head for this 50 horsepower beast over at BNSF's rail yard in Memphis, TN. We decided to set-up on this bridge over the north end of the yard since we felt that it would make for a neat shot, especially since doing so put us just about on eye level with the siren. Thankfully, right at 3:30, this siren fired on up and I was able to get my sixth Memphis test in a row!
It appears that Memphis has refurbished the horn on this siren at some point, seeing as it's painted a different color from the rest of the siren and has what appears to be a cross brace across the end of it, which I definitely ain't seen on any other P-50/RM-135/T-135 sirens. Still, it was nice getting to film one of these absolutely massive sirens again, and I definitely felt this one in my chest whenever it was pointed towards me. For whatever reason, the siren continues rotating for a while after it begins to wind-down.
Memphis, TN's sirens are tested every Wednesday at 3:30 PM, *very strictly* weather permitting.
