Strike Force Benson was established in August 2025 by the State Crime Command’s Raptor Squad in response to a sharp rise in tensions between the Hells Angels and the Gladiators Motorcycle Club. The conflict reportedly intensified after an alleged takeover of a Gladiators clubhouse in the Hunter Region on 23rd July, which sparked fears of retaliatory violence across the state. To prevent further escalation, on Friday 1 August 2025, Raptor Squad issued 27 Public Safety Orders targeting various club members and associates. These orders specifically prohibited them from attending the affected clubhouse, aiming to reduce the risk of confrontations following the takeover. Since the launch of Strike Force Benson, officers have issued more than 30 consorting warnings to Hells Angels members. Despite these measures, it is alleged that several individuals ignored the restrictions, leading to breaches detected across multiple states, including New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory, South Australia, and Victoria. Some of these breaches occurred during national runs and gatherings, including celebrations marking the Hells Angels’ 50th anniversary, highlighting the challenges authorities face in enforcing compliance across a nationwide network. The charges mark one of the most significant law enforcement actions against the club in recent months, reflecting the ongoing commitment of Raptor Squad to disrupt criminal activity and prevent violence linked to organised motorcycle clubs.
