Charlie the joey koala has his milkies

As I previously said we have had lots of joeys come into care recently. Another of those joeys is Charlie. Charlie came into care in the small hours of the morning after he and his mum were victims of a dog attack. Sadly, mum was not able to be saved, but Charlie came out without injury. As you would expect, he was a little traumatised and his first few nights were sleepless for his human as he cried out for his mum and needed to be held until he would fall asleep. Charlie has settled down now, and after a few days of chewing on the teat of the bottle, spraying milk everywhere, he has learned to suck, well, for the most part. He still gets a little messy as he forgets to swallow his mouthful before taking in more, but he is getting there. Like many small boys he is not keen when his foster mum washes his face after a messy feed but it has to be done.
