The rarest croc in the world

Melbourne Zoo's Reptile House has a new scaly resident. Pangalawa is a 12-year-old Philippine crocodile who has travelled all the way from Germany’s Cologne Zoo to her new home down under. It took five years to finalise Pangalawa’s move and the keepers are thrilled for her arrival. Philippine crocodiles are the most critically endangered crocodilian species in all the world and the hope is that in the next few years, Pangalawa will partner with Melbourne Zoo’s other Philippine crocodile, 27-year-old Luzon. But she needs to stack on the kgs before she meets the 50 plus kilogram croc. Zoos Victoria is a zoo-based conservation organisation, fighting for a future rich in wildlife.
