High above the modern-day Petrelë Castle near Tirana lies the ruins of Përsqop, a massive, unexcavated megalithic fortress once belonging to the powerful Taulantii tribe. Their King, Glaukias, shaped the politics and outcomes with neighboring Macedonia and Epirus. He ensured that Alexander the Great would not conquer Illyria, and he adopted and raised Pyrrhus the Great.
