Description
Meeting with the Unified Package for Livelihoods, Industry, Food and Transport (UPLIFT) Committee
State Dining Room, Malacañan Palace
March 30, 2026
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. chaired the UPLIFT (Unified Package for Livelihoods, Industry, Food and Transport) Committee meeting, where they discussed measures to ensure a stable food supply and keep prices affordable amid global oil price pressures caused by the ongoing crisis in the Middle East.
The UPLIFT Committee emphasized the importance of safeguarding the country’s food supply. To support this effort, the government will activate Php10 billion through the Department of Agriculture (DA) to provide farmers and fisherfolk with fuel subsidies and farm inputs, helping to maintain steady food production and supply.
To help reduce rising transportation costs, the government will also activate Php1 billion through the Department of Transportation (DOTr). The fund will be used to subsidize transportation expenses, provide direct support to drivers and expand free-ride programs for commuters impacted by higher fuel prices.
