► The slithering cohort includes cobras and king ratsnakes.
Venomous snakes are among hundreds to have slithered to freedom from a breeding facility in Southern China where flooding has claimed the lives of at least 38 people.
Nearly 1,000 reptiles are on the loose amid severe flooding in Guangxi, where two reservoirs breached their banks after heavy rainfall caused by typhoon Maysak.
The snakes have turned up at homes and attacked people near water with a local doctor telling Beijing News he had treated several villagers since the typhoon hit the region this week.
One person is said to have died following an incident with a snake, and another was hospitalised after being bitten while clearing debris in his home.
Hospitals are said to have increased stocks of anti-venom supplies, and locals are being urged not to try and capture the reptiles.
Authorities have warned that snakes could seek shelter in homes, stairwells, corners of buildings and along riverbanks, and urged people to exercise caution and avoid trying to capture the snakes themselves.
Rescue personnel and medical specialists have been sent to key areas.
