About 30 minutes later, Bill called Phyllis to check on her, and she assured him that everything was fine. Shortly after, one of her best friends also called and received a similar, calm response. The final call was around midnight from an unknown caller. This was the last time her loved ones would hear from her. One theory that emerged was that she may have been heading to Long Beach, where she allegedly had a boyfriend.
