Description
I spent 4 weeks traveling from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi — a journey I’d dreamed of ever since watching the Top Gear Vietnam Special as a kid. Last year, I finally got the chance to do it.
I bought what looked like a solid motorbike… but it turned out to be a complete wreck. It broke down nearly every single day. Looking back, I’m shocked I didn’t crash! But honestly, the breakdowns became part of the adventure. Each time, I met hilarious people and stumbled into random moments I never would have experienced otherwise. It was frustrating and funny all at once — a bittersweet ride I weirdly grew to enjoy.
When I finally rolled into Hanoi, I was still hopeful I could sell the bike and get my money back. No chance. After days of trying, I reluctantly ditched it at the airport — passing the torch to another traveler. To my surprise, someone actually picked it up, and the bike lives on to tell another tale.
