Student-led activism has shaped some of Australia’s most significant political movements – from the Vietnam war to apartheid in South Africa. Now, for the first time in 50 years, the National Union of Students (NUS) and the Students for Palestine collective have revived a national referendum, to once again spotlight the push for Palestinian rights. We spoke to the organiser behind this year's vote – and an ex-student activist who was there in the ‘70s – to trace how campus politics has consistently been a force in global debates.
