Description

We had a bad day on a job when our 150 ton double acting hollow jacking cylinder failed, so we’re tearing it down to find out exactly how much damage is hiding inside! This video covers the full tear down from the first pin being machined to the last seal coming out. We start by machining up new pins on the lathe for our shop made adjustable pin spanner so we can crack the gland nut loose. Once the gland is off it is pretty clear the seals did not survive. As we dig deeper we pull the cylinder rod and find even more damage waiting for us. We remove the inner tube and the rest of the failed seals then get everything through the hot wash for a proper clean. After a full inspection we find more than a simple seal job. This cylinder is going to need a serious repair plan! Join our channel: We upload new videos every Friday at 5pm AEST! If you want to see more of our videos click LIKE & SUBSCRIBE!
