Coping with PTSD and recovering from PTSD aren’t the same thing. Coping helps you get through the moment—manage the anxiety, calm your body, make it through the day. Recovery goes deeper. It’s helping your nervous system learn that it’s no longer in danger. Coping says, “how do I survive this?” Recovery asks, “how do I stop needing to survive all the time?” You need both.
