Description
In a small, borrowed house in Staryi Saltiv in the Kharkiv region of Ukraine, just a few kilometers from the front line, six children and their parents are living through another harsh winter, with support from UNICEF.
The family cuts costs wherever they can so the children can afford to eat, stay warm and keep learning. All six children attend school online, despite a lack of devices and school supplies.
The conflict forced them out of their own home in 2022. Since then, UNICEF has delivered humanitarian assistance to improve living conditions during the cold months, including cash support, warm clothes for the children and heating fuel.
"Most importantly, they really help people who are in genuine need," says Svitlanta, the children's mother.
Sustained support is needed for children and families living near the front line in Ukraine.
