Injured Sea Turtle Released After Fishing Net Rescue

This is Popeye, a hawksbill sea turtle who came to us carrying the kind of injury the ocean often hides from view. A fishing net had wrapped tightly around his front flipper, cutting deep and causing damage so severe that it could not be saved. For marine animals, even a single piece of netting can quickly become life-threatening. When Popeye arrived, he was too weak for surgery. The team gave him fluids, medication, careful monitoring and round-the-clock care, helping him regain enough strength for the operation he urgently needed. Only then could vets remove the damaged bone and close the wound properly. What stays with us most is Popeye’s resilience. After everything he had endured, he kept going.
