Water is Life. Planning for an equitable future that regenerates Country, First Nations First. Tiahni Adamson - 2024 SA Young Australian of the Year. Tiahni is an Australian wildlife conservation biologist, advocating for indigenous Australians and women in STEM. Abstract: Our communities know that water is life. Our fresh and saltwater systems are a living, breathing entity that has sustained us physically, emotionally and spiritually for over 65,000 years here in Australia. In a continually evolving world, with increasing impacts of anthropogenically driven climate change, how do we prepare for a more resilient and harmonious future? First Nations people have cared for, and purposefully planned to nurture Country and future generations for tens of thousands of years. Our First Nations approaches drive the true regeneration of entire ecosystems, not just broadscale sustainability. How can we decolonise our minds and challenge the systems we operate under?
