Whanganui: HeroQuest, Wonder Boy, Luigi and Supergirl

Today is Thursday April 2nd, 2026. Good Friday tomorrow. In Whanganui today, I saw 4 more items. 1 I bought and the other 3 I didn't. There's a new shop called Boredom's Doom. Boredom's Doom is like Valkyrie Games in Palmerston North. It is a Dungeons and Dragons themed shop. I saw in the shop, a HeroQuest pack of The Jungles of Delthrak. My brother Jack got me the new HeroQuest board game by Avalon Hill for Christmas. Jungles of Delthrak is HeroQuest does Jumanji. In Jungles of Delthrak, players must guide the barbarian, the wizard, the dwarf and the elf and other heroes through the jungles of Delthrak. In Delthrak, players must save the jungle and it's inhabitants from the planar rift, a tear in the fabric of reality that is corrupting the jungle and eliminate carnivorous plant monsters called Skullblights, poisonous insects and reptiles that stand in their way. I described Candy Land as "HeroQuest meets Jumanji and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory". If I could get any HeroQuest expansion pack, it would be Jungles of Delthrak. I don't know how much it costs at Boredom's Doom and I saw no price sticker on it and I couldn't go and take a proper look at it because the shop was closed. I guess HeroQuest: The Jungles of Delthrak is $200 or $300. I would have liked to have bought it today and added it to HeroQuest and Jumanji. At Cash Converters, I came across a old Sega Master System game I have never heard of nor played before called Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap. I had to consult Microsoft Co-Pilot for information. Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap is a 1989 Sega Master System platform game and it was developed by Westone and published by Sega. The game is the 2nd sequel to a 1986 game called Wonder Boy and it's follow-up Wonder Boy in Monster Land. Apparently the game is like the other Sega game Alex Kidd in Miracle World. The game follows young warrior Wonder Boy who gets transformed into a fire breathing lizard and he goes to Monster Land to find dragons and to restore himself to normal. The game received positive reviews from critics praising it for colorful cartoon-like graphics and gameplay and it became one of the best games on the Sega Master System. The game went on to have 2 more sequels and a 2021 remake called Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World. As I've said, I've never heard of Wonder Boy and I've never played it and I don't know what the gameplay and graphics is really like. I like the artwork on the case cover. A lot of Sega Master System games had a lot of nice artwork on the case covers. Cash Converters has the game for sale for $20. The new Super Mario Bros. film The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is out today in cinemas. I was not able to go and see it at Embassy 3 due to budget and also because the times were no good. Funny enough, at the Salvation Army Shop, to my surprise, I found a glass of Luigi from The Super Mario Bros Movie from 2023. I enjoyed The Super Mario Bros. Movie and I thought it was the perfect adaptation of a video game. I just wish I could have gone and seen The Super Mario Galaxy Movie today and I may have to wait until I go back to Palmerston North in a few weeks. I bought the Super Mario Bros. Movie Luigi glass for $4. And at the Tr3ble Art + Vintage Shop, I found a storybook of the 1984 Supergirl film starring Helen Slater. I own the 1984 Supergirl film on DVD. The author was Wendy Andrews and it was published by St. Michaels. Despite it's flaws, I liked the 1984 Supergirl film and I thought it was a great film and I thought Helen Slater was good in it and it was a shame Christopher Reeve didn't appear in the film as Superman. In the 1984 film, Superman's cousin Kara Zor-El/Supergirl leaves the Kyptonian colony Argo City to Earth to find and retrieve Argo City's power source the Omegaheadron from a evil witch called Selena (Faye Dunaway) who bids to use the Omegaheadron in her plot for world domination. In June, the new Supergirl film starring House of the Dragon's Milly Alcock as Supergirl and Jason Momoa as Lobo will be in cinemas. I am looking forward to the new Supergirl film and I hope to go and see it when it is out in cinemas. I think the new Supergirl film will be Guardians of the Galaxy meets Red Sonja and John Wick and I am hopeful Milly Alcock is going to be great as the new Supergirl. I thought Elisha Cuthbert would have made a good Supergirl herself and she looks as if she could be Henry Cavill's cousin. A lot of people online and on YouTube are moaning about the new Supergirl film and they think it's going to flop at the Box Office and that it will be a terrible film. They're passing judgment on it before the film is even released and they haven't even watched it! Well, I don't care. If it's good, it's good and if it's bad, it's bad. I will go and watch it when it comes out in cinemas and decide for myself if it's good or bad. Tr3ble Art + Vintage shop has the Supergirl storybook for sale for $5. I may buy it another time when I am in Whanganui again.
