Dr. Adam Hamawy, a retired Army combat surgeon who treated patients in Gaza during the genocide, won the Democratic primary in New Jersey’s 12th Congressional District on Tuesday and is now heavily favored to become the next member of Congress. That’s despite a surge of right-wing media attacks attempting to label Hamawy a terrorist for speaking out against Israel. “Just last cycle, in 2024 AIPAC spent about $100 million through its super PAC and affiliated PACs to support its candidates, and they did it with their chest,” explains Ryan Grim, co-creator of Drop Site News. “And they were willing to do it out in the open. This time they’re not. There’s no public push for you to be pro-genocide.
