Miroslav's research focuses on one of the most overlooked yet critical challenges in space engineering — lubrication. Specifically, he's developing hybrid lubrication systems that combine solid coatings and oil layers to keep mechanical components functioning reliably in the extreme conditions of space. His path into research began on the workshop floor, where he trained as a mechanic setter in high school before his passion for space and planetary science steered him toward academia. A self-described Saturn enthusiast, Miroslav brings a rare combination of hands-on engineering instinct and deep scientific curiosity to one of the most practical problems in space technology. Beyond the lab, Miroslav is anything but stationary. He's an avid swimmer, road cyclist, and mountain hiker who once trekked across the entire island of Mallorca — east to west — in just nine days. When he's not engineering solutions for spacecraft or exploring the outdoors, you'll find him at his local observatory, watching science documentaries, managing a board game collection of over 100 titles, painting miniatures for Dungeons & Dragons, or practicing historical fencing.
