Declawing is one of the most misunderstood and harmful procedures a cat can endure. Despite what some commenters assume, Shorty is not declawed. In fact, cats naturally sheath their claws when they’re not in use—a fact that seems to surprise many people. This video highlights some of the wild assumptions I’ve received on some of my videos and shows the reality: Shorty is happy, healthy, and still has her claws. For those who may not know, declawing isn’t just a fancy nail trim. It’s the amputation of the last bone in a cat’s toes. Imagine losing the tips of your fingers—ouch. This procedure can cause lifelong pain, behavioral issues, and emotional distress for cats. That’s why it’s banned in many countries and states, and why I would never subject Shorty or Kodi to such a cruel practice.
