The fire didn’t own him anymore ❤️

There’s a few things Terry told me in the interview that didn’t make it into the video. After everything Terry went through, the fire, the surgeries, the years of fighting his way back… this is what Terry’s life looks like now: He found love. His fiancée Kenzie bumped into him at a gas station in a tiny Pacific Northwest town, Googled him on the spot, and found his social media page. “She found my art page and she reached out for a commission of art. And I’ll tell you what, we’ve been making art ever since.” Then came his 9-year-old son…and something Terry never expected. “He’s really healed my own childhood that I didn’t get to live. I lost it at six.” And in return, Terry became the father he lost too soon. “I was able to be the person I needed when I was his age.” Today he shows up for young burn survivors the same way. “It refills my cup just knowing that the next generation of young survivors are actually given this chance.” This is what happens when the fire no longer owns you 💫❤️❤️ (📸 via: @phoenix_down_with_terry )
