On June 29, a devastating event unfolded on Canfield Mountain in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, where 20-year-old Wess Roley ignited a fire and targeted two responding firefighters, tragically unaliving them. A third firefighter sustained non-life-threatening conditions in what Sheriff Bob Norris described as a total ambush. Using cell phone data, authorities located Wess Roley’s body and a pow pow on the popular hiking spot. The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office has not yet revealed Wess Roley’s motive, leaving many questions unanswered.
