Walk down Oxford St praying for the conversion of England. Venerate the Plaque at Tyburn. Benediction at 3.30pm at Tyburn Convent. The Aim of the Walk The aim of this walk is to honour the memory of the 105 martyrs of Tyburn who were tied to the hurdle and pulled along the road to Tyburn, there were other martyrs in London and around the country but this walk is to honour those who died at Tyburn. By walking along the latter part of the route of the hurdle from St Giles in the Fields we can solemnly call to mind the scenes as they were dragged along the rough track towards Tyburn quite unlike the built up scene of Oxford Street. Just as these noble souls gave their lives for the love of Our Lord and for the Old Faith of England, in our time by honouring their memory we can enlist their prayers for the Conversion of England and add ours as well. Tyburn's first recorded execution took place in 1196 and the last in 1783. The executions at Tyburn provided London's most popular and frightful sideshow. The ritual cruelties and indecencies practised here thrilled and corrupted every class of society. Along with criminals, saints and martyrs were butchered on Tyburn Tree.
