Epson EH-QB1000B Laser Projector Review: Great For a Bright Room Home Cinema!

The Epson QB1000B is an excellent mid-range home cinema projector with the features that most cinephiles are looking for, whether using constant height or multi-aspect ratio screens. While it is not a native 4K projector, even the most eagle-eyed viewers would have trouble telling that it uses RGB 3LCD devices and pixel shift technology to create the faux 8.3 million pixels in a 4K image. The laser light source has a claimed lifespan of 20,000 hours and is bright; it can pump out close to the advertised 3,300 lumens in the brightest (and most inaccurate) modes. But when calibrated in the Cinema picture preset, it remains bright for larger screens, but with accurate D65 white and colour reproduction. Black levels are also decent, but due to the brightness push, they are not quite as deep and fluid as the Sony and JVC models. But this projector is also a couple of grand cheaper.
