Discover the magic of Budapest while staying on board Riviera Travel newest river cruise ship, Riviera Radiance, in the lead up to her official naming ceremony on the River Danube. The day began with a wonderful breakfast on board followed by a Riviera Travel business update that included some exciting news about future ships joining the fleet. With a few hours free before the evening celebrations, guests headed into the heart of Budapest to explore some of the most famous sights in the city. The stroll began near the famous Chain Bridge, one of the city oldest and most iconic crossings connecting Buda and Pest. From the riverside promenade, there were amazing views towards Buda Castle and the Hungarian Parliament Building, one of the largest parliament buildings in the world and a true architectural masterpiece along the Danube. A visit to the powerful Shoes on the Danube memorial was a moving reminder of the history made in this city. Then it was onwards to St Stephen Basilica, one of Budapest tallest and most beautiful churches, before enjoying the festive atmosphere at the city Christmas markets with their stalls selling seasonal treats and handmade gifts. After soaking up the city lively culture and gorgeous scenery it was time to head back to Riviera Radiance and prepare for an evening of naming celebrations.
