Description
Since you all enjoyed the uninterrupted and unedited trimming in last weekend's video, I thought I'd do something similar this week, only instead of trimming a single object, this time I'll be throwing an entire board of mugs, all in real-time and without any cuts.
To begin with though, I take you through how I setup my wheels and my tools for when repetition throwing. I demonstrate how I've been sharpening my metal throwing ribs too, as over time their edges are deformed as the highly abrasive stoneware I use grinds against it, turning what was a flat surface into a bowed one. I show you why I prefer working with a minimal toolset, why I keep a bucket of water directly to my left and why I use a throwing mirror.
Then comes a full 40 minutes or so of continuous throwing, which I really hope you find interesting. You’ll see how a majority of my care goes into forming the ‘rough’ shape, disregarding subtle undulations in the lip and upon watching the session back, there are two very distinct things that stand out that need correcting, or optimising at least, but I discuss these at the end of the film.
As always, let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them and thanks so much for taking your precious time to watch.
