From Indiana to Ohio Trump backed candidates dominate primary night

President Donald Trump’s influence remains strong with parts of his base, with recent Republican primary results in Indiana underscoring the political power of his endorsement in some red states. In Indiana state legislative races, five Trump-backed challengers won primaries against Republican incumbents who had stopped his redistricting efforts in the state. The results sent a clear message in those contests: crossing Trump can come with consequences at the ballot box. President Trump is the leader of our party. He is unbelievable in terms of delivering for voters,” Joe Gruters, the Republican National Committee chairman, told Fox News Wednesday. Casey Burgat, the legislative affairs program director at George Washington University, said the Indiana outcomes showed Trump’s continued sway in Republican politics in red states.
