Rediscovery of Kalady by 33rd Sringeri Jagadguru SriSri Sacchidananda Shivabhinava Narasimha Bharati

Part 3: Jagadguru Sri Mahasannidhanam speaks on the sacred legacy of the 33rd Acharya of Sringeri—by whose grace we are blessed to celebrate Sri Shankara Jayanti and behold Kalady today. About 150 years ago, Dakshinamnaya Sringeri Sri Sharada Peetham was adorned by Jagadguru Śrī Sacchidānanda Shivābhinava Narasimha Bhāratī Mahaswamiji, who assumed the position as its 33rd Shankaracharya. The Mahaswamiji was born as the son of Śrī Kuṇigala Rāma Shastri, the foremost court scholar of the Mysore State, who composed numerous works such as “Shatakoti”, and who possessed mastery over all the Śāstras. It is only through the grace of that Mahāsvāmin that today we all have the good fortune of beholding Kalady, the birthplace of Bhagavatpāda Shankaracārya, we celebrate five days of Shankara Jayantī festival from Pratipat of Shukla Paksha to Panchami of the month of Vaishakha, and we are able to study all the works of Bhagavatpāda. Therefore, clearly perceiving the greatness of that Mahaswamiji—distinguished by a special manifestation of the power of Bhagavatpāda, and particularly by his role in fostering the tradition of propagating Vedānta and other śāstras—and also understanding the many acts of benevolence he performed for the welfare of the world, the eminent scholars of that time firmly concluded that Śrī Ādi Shankara Bhagavatpāda himself had indeed re-incarnated in this very form.
