Description

At the start of the New Year, I take the opportunity to evaluate our organizational systems. I focus on maintaining what works and reconsidering what doesn’t. As our boys grow and change each year, I reorganize their rooms with new goals and intentions in mind. 5 Tips For Organizing Kids Rooms - Creating Systems That Work! 1) Evaluate what you truly need & love Ask yourself: What sparks joy? What is truly useful? Begin your organizing process by determining what items are meaningful and functional for you. 2) Start small (one category, room, or section at a time) Focus on one category, room, or section at a time. Organizing can feel overwhelming, and perfection is not the goal. Concentrate on establishing a system that works for your family and lifestyle, emphasizing progress rather than perfection. 3) Donate or sell items - Create Four Piles: Donate, Sell, Trash and Store. Donate: Items that are lightly used and in good condition. Sell:Items that can be sold through platforms like Facebook, Poshmark, or at a garage sale. Trash:Broken or unusable items. Store: Items that need to be kept for future use, stored in appropriate locations such as a garage or attic. 4) Designate, Label, and Create Kits: Labeling items can simplify organization and maintenance. This is particularly helpful for medicines and toys, making them easy to access and keep tidy. 5) Maintain minimalism - Develop systems that are simple to sustain. Involve your children in organizing their spaces to foster independence and a sense of ownership.
