Description

Episode 45 of European Cricket Stories takes us to Hungary and into one of its most competitive club environments. 🎙️ ECN Founder Daniel Weston sits down with Sheikh Rasik from Hungarian Cobra Cricket Club to explore a journey that began in a cricket loving family. Growing up surrounded by his father and cousins playing the game, Rasik always knew he wanted to follow the same path. He started club cricket at 13 or 14 years old, alongside school state cricket. Like many players from South East Asia, his early years were shaped by red ball cricket. As T20 grew in global popularity, white ball cricket became a bigger part of his development and playing style. In 2020, Rasik moved to Hungary without knowing whether cricket was even played there. After finding a club in Budapest and featuring in a friendly match, he received a call the following summer to trial for Cobra CC. After passing the trials, he officially joined the club in 2021. Hungary’s cricket scene is evolving quickly, with strong club rivalries, increasing participation and more locals attending matches. The growing number of events and competitions is strengthening the domestic structure and building momentum for the sport across the country. This episode highlights how cricket continues to spread across Europe, carried by passionate players and thriving local communities. 👉 Subscribe now and follow the European cricket journey. #EuropeanCricket #StrongerTogether #CricketHungary
