Description
Whale sharks are magnificent animals that migrate great distances around the globe, inhabiting all tropical waters. They congregate here in the Galapagos Islands to rid themselves of parasites and remoras. The sharks and trevallies here prey on the larger remoras on the tails and fins of these whale sharks. The trevallies are capable of pulling remoras from the gills and claspers of the sharks. The whale sharks cruise around and past Darwin Island in particular, where this group of scuba divers was resurfacing after a dive in deeper waters.
To their delight, a curious whale shark drifted up to them at the surface. It seemed curious and it drifted back and forth slowly, possibly wanting a closer look at the clumsy humans.
