#MercedesBenz #hybridcar #luxurycar Hybrid power is all the rage, and Stuttgart is about to jump in the pool with both feet. Mercedes-Benz has already welcomed an all-electric CLA into a few world markets and is choosing to start the CLA's sophomore year with a hybrid powertrain. At hand for our drive was a CLA 220 4Matic hybrid, powered by a team of 1.5L gasoline-powered engine and electrified guts. The latter includes an electric motor integrated in the transmission and a 1.3 kWh lithium-ion battery. This is all good for a system total 211 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. Handling that grunt is an innovative eight-speed transmission which has is a third clutch packed away in its housing and can decouple the engine/gearbox to move the car solely under electric power as conditions demand up to a speed of around 100 km/h.
