Surrounded by German forces, out of food, and out of water, their nightmare gets worse—their own American artillery mistakenly starts bombing them! 💥 With no radios and all previous messenger pigeons shot down, they release their last hope: a pigeon named Cher Ami. 🕊️ As she takes flight, German soldiers open fire. Cher Ami is shot in the chest, blinded in one eye, and her leg is left hanging by a single tendon. 🩸 Despite these horrific injuries, this brave little bird flew 40 kilometers in just 25 minutes to deliver a desperate, blood-stained message: "Our own artillery is dropping a barrage directly on us. For heaven's sake, stop it."
