This action was taken because DUSIB failed to submit a complete and clear report to the court regarding the sewage discharge from JJ (slum) clusters, despite having been granted repeated opportunities to do so. The matter came to light while the NGT was conducting hearings concerning the cleaning—specifically, the de-silting—of stormwater drains in the capital prior to the onset of the monsoon. The Tribunal's objective is to ensure that the problem of waterlogging in Delhi during the rains is effectively mitigated.
