Description

Materials: plastic bottle, water, oil, food coloring, alka seltzer (or salt) Science: Objects that are more dense than water sink. Objects that are less dense than water, like oil, float. Food coloring has the same density as water which is why it mixes. As the alka seltzer dissolves, it releases carbon dioxide gas. Gas bubbles float up, bringing colored water with them. When the gas bubbles pop, the dense colored water sinks back down. This happens over and over again until the alka seltzer is complete dissolved!
