Meanwhile, Reuters confirmed that a major fire broke out aboard the USS Gerald R. Ford in the Red Sea, injuring nearly 200 sailors and forcing the $13 billion carrier to divert for repairs. CNN later obtained footage showing damage far worse than the Navy's initial description, with one sailor saying he believed the ship could be lost. The fire reportedly burned for roughly 30 hours while crew members fought it manually.
